This unit study gathers resources, chronologically and contextually, for families to study the accurate and historical account of what we know as the First Thanksgiving. In this document, you will find 75 pages of resources, including:
6 individual lessons, a comprehensive timeline, a lengthy bibliography and clickable links throughout the file, and printable resources such as worksheets, maps, lesson planner, Thanksgiving interview, book lists, and more.
Each lesson includes: an introduction, Questions to Ask, primary sources, secondary sources, suggested articles for students in elementary/middle/high school, suggested videos (for the above ages), and suggested enrichment activities. They also include terms and people to know, as well as “rabbit trail” research suggestions. Lastly, for older students, there is an optional “Conflicts and Controversies” activity which aims to target the more controversial arguments surrounding Thanksgiving at Plymouth.
This is an excellent resource for anyone looking for a neutral guide to one of America’s most famous holidays.
