Old School: A Historical Sketch of Life & Culture in the American 90s is a curriculum for 6th-12th grade which introduces the historical period of the 1990s in context. (It is the first in a series of decade-related history curriculum, so stand by for future projects!) The full curriculum is purchasable at: https://thehomeschoolhistorian.com/shop/
About this curriculum:
There are 12 lessons, and like my other curriculum, each lesson could be done in a day, a week, or stretched out longer (depending on how many enrichment options you complete). -Each lesson includes: an introduction, a timeline, key terms to know, a reading/answer portion, and enrichment options. Some enrichment options are curriculum-long, and some are lesson specific. -A glossary of 90s terms -Final project ideas -Research paper ideas
-Movie & TV review templates
-Cook book & recipe card templates
-Oral History Interview
-90s Challenges printable for classrooms/co-ops -Active hyperlinks to helpful resources
Something unique about this curriculum is that I developed it originally for a class I’m offering at our local co-op in the fall, so many of the activities are perfect for groups, which is fun! It also helps that I have some GenX and Millennial friends willing to share their 90s toys and things for show and tell
Other key features: -Each lesson is one year (Lesson 1: 1990), so the content is chronological in nature. Each year includes movies, TV shows, and music artists which were popular in that particular year—keeping in mind that sometimes music made the charts two years in a row.
